Clinical Benefits
- Maintain cardiovascular health by supporting normal homocysteine levels. A meta-analysis of 25 randomised, controlled trials encompassing 2596 patients found that supplementation with folic acid and vitamin B12 resulted in a significant reduction of plasma homocysteine levels. These nutrients are also essential for normal red blood cell maturation and DNA synthesis.
- Support healthy cognition and mood. Folate and vitamin B6 are precursors to the neurotransmitters serotonin, epinephrine and dopamine.
